6 Persons Detained in Nangarhar

Nangarhar (BNA) NATO forces reported from arresting of six persons on charges of cooperation with armed Taliban in Nangarhar province.  These persons have been detained in operation by NATO forces from outskirts of Ghanikhail district of that province.  NATO press release confirmed arresting of these six persons and said the arrested persons are involved to cooperation with armed Taliban.  In this operation, quantity of arms and ammunition were seized by TNAT forces.

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan severely condemned air bombardment of foreign forces which number of children was martyred in Nejrab district of Kapisa province.  According to presidential office, General Mehrabuddin Safi governor of Kapisa province said that in air bombardment of foreign forces in the Geawa village of Kapisa province eight children were martyred.  According of decree of president Karzai, a delegation under the chairmanship of Alhaj Mohammad Zahir Safi advisor of president was appointed for assessment of the event.  This delegation are including member of Wolisi Jirga and Upper house and representatives of national defense, Interior, national security, local organs offices and administrative affairs and secretariat of council ministers for assessment of the event.  President Hamid Karzai in telephone conversation with governor of Kaspisa talked regarding to the event and expressed his deep sorrow to victims families of the event.

Armed Insurgents Killed in Provinces

Kabul (BNA) the national police forces in several operations in provinces of the country killed three armed insurgents and detained one other.  According to interior ministry press office, in 24 last hour, the national police forces conducted combined operations by national army, national security and coalition forces in the outskirts of Helmand, Zabul, Khost, Farah and Nangarhar provinces in which, three armed insurgents were killed and one other has been captured.  According to the source, in these operations, quantity of  light and heavy arms consist of 2 Kalashnikovs, 500 mines, 250 kg of explosive materials and two  vehicles were seized by these forces.  Meanwhile, the national police personnel of Bamyan province seized quantity of heavy ammunition from outskirts of Dasht Safeed village, Kohmard district of that province and consist of 7 rockets, 7 detonators and 18 mortar mines which were placed in a hideout.

Kabul (BNA the chairmen and representatives session of Kabul city was held under the chairmanship of Suraya-Paikan deputy minister of crippled and invalid  ministry and social affairs yesterday.  According to BNA, this session decided to distribute foodstuffs card for 10,000 damaged families which were surveying later, to seized their foodstuffs from districts shops.  This program was launched with cooperation of World Food Institution (WFP).

30,000 kg Hashish Discovered in Kandahar

Kandahar (BNA) the security police of Kandahar province discovered and defused 30,000 kg of hashish today.  This hashish was seized during last week from smugglers in outskirts of Kandahar province.  Colonel Rahmtullah Khan Atrafi police chief of Kandahar said to BNA, huge quantity of hashish were seized during operations by anti-narcotic police from smugglers.  According to him, the security forces of them increased their efforts in cultivation and smuggling of narcotics in this field.

Kabul (BNA) a person was martyred and five others were wounded in anti-vehicle mine blast in Kapisa province yesterday.  According to 202 police zone, the mine was placed by armed insurgents along the road in Nejrab district of that province during passing of a private corolla car-which transfers foodstuffs for national army personnel, in which a passenger of the vehicle was martyred and five other have been wounded.

Kabul (BNA) the construction work of 40 utility projects was started in Helmand yesterday.  According to local in charges, these projects consist of development of villages, construction and promotion of public foundations, agricultural and education and irrigation programs.  The development programs of districts allocated nine million dollar for implementation of these projects.  In the in inaugural signing of this contract,  Gulab Mangal , governor of Helmand  said that implementation of these projects is useful for development of villages in that province.  Governor of Helmand said to BNA, they will attention capacity situation in work of these projects.  In signing ceremony of this agreement, in charge of PRT in Helmand declared that they will continue their assistance in construction projects in that province.

Contract Signed

Kabul (BNA) the Information and Culture Minister Dr. Sayeed Makhdoom Raheen signed cooperation contract with Youths deputy office and chairmen of Azghar higher education institution and Noor Khorasan cultural scientific training course yesterday. According to BNA reporter, this contract was signed by Temorshah Ishaqzai deputy of youth affairs of the information and culture minister, Prof. Sayeed Naem Alimi head of Azghar higher education institution and Zaiulhaq Gheyasi in charge of Khorasan Noor cultural and scientific training course. In the inaugural ceremony of this contract, Dr. Sayeed Makhdoom Raheen Minister of Information and Culture said, in serious cooperation’s of the higher education institution with youths affairs dept of the information and culture minister, two other institutions, one of Azhar higher education institution trained 500 boys and girls in computer, science, matimatic , and political science.  Dr. Raheen added that the Noor Khorasan culture and scientific course ready to train 1000 girls and boys in computer, CIT and English language.  The Minister of Information and Culture appreciated the mentioned institutions and hoped that other educational institutions to assist youths of country in providing of education fields.

January 27, 2012- In Rome on Thursday evening, President Hamid Karzai and Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti signed a long-term strategic partnership agreement that enhances Italy's areas of assistance to Afghanistan.

At a joint press conference following the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Monti said the partnership accord lays the foundation for the Italian’s long-term cooperation with Afghanistan. "The main message of today's meeting is that Italy's responsibilities and partnership will not lessen with the withdrawal of our military forces in 2014," added Prime Minister Monti.


Prime Minister Monti said Rome intended to increase its economic cooperation with Kabul and stressed that the development of Afghan infrastructure was of crucial importance to Italy. "Italy will not abandon Afghanistan, but would be involved in more civilian and economic aspects,” added the PM.

The Italian premier also said his country supports the Afghan government in their efforts for peace process and reconciliation and said, “Afghanistan has made significant progress in the peace process and we are grateful to the Afghan government for its leadership and the growing and effective co-ordination between the Afghan institutions,"

Addressing in the same press conference, President Karzai said he was pleased to have signed an important agreement on strategic cooperation with Italy. “On behalf of the people of Afghanistan, I thank the Italian government for all its contributions and assistance to Afghanistan.”

President Karzai invited Italian businesses to come and benefit from Afghanistan mineral resources, and bring benefits to Afghanistan".

President Karzai also invited Prime Minister Monti to visit Afghanistan at a convenient time.

The long-term partnership agreement provides for Italy to assist Afghanistan in political, security, economic and counter-narcotics issues past 2014.

January 26, 2012 - As the first leg of his 4-day European tour, President Karzai arrived in Rome Wednesday afternoon and met with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano to discuss issues of mutual interest including the current situation in Afghanistan.

President Karzai, on behalf of the people of Afghanistan thanked Italy for all its assistance both military and civilian and called “unforgettable” the sacrifices made by its soldiers serving for peace and security in Afghanistan.

President Karzai briefed President Napolitano on the overall situation in Afghanistan. Pointing to the false assumptions reported on media as if Afghanistan was to head back into internal crisis after foreign troops leave the country in 2014, the President said, “Afghanistan is a strong country with a government. I am firmly confident that the country will never slip back to the past.”

The President hailed his visit to Rome and said it was a great pleasure to see Afghanistan enter into a long-term strategic partnership with its friend Italy.

President Napolitano assured his country’s continued assistance to Afghanistan and strongly noted that with all the assistance and the sacrifices Italy had given, it could not afford to see Afghanistan regress back into internal problems.

It is set that President Karzai meets this evening with Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti and officially sign the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries.

The document is said to ensure Italy’s long term past 2014 assistance covering a wide range of areas including political, security, economic, counter narcotics and rule of law as well as cultural, media and capacity building cooperation with Afghanistan.
