New Election Commissioners Sworn

Kabul (BNA) the newly appointed members of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) took the oath of office on Thursday administered by President Karzai.  The ceremony was held in the Presidential Palace, where the new members:  Mohammad Husain Garzewani, Sayed Mohammad Hashem Folad, Ghulam Dastgir Azad, Momena Yari and Rida Azimi all recited the oath of allegiance to office read out by President Karzai.  In presence were also IEC Chief Fazl Ahmad Manawi and Head Secretariat Abdullah Ahmadzai.  The new commissioners swore allegiance to office and promised to carry out their duties with honesty, loyalty, independence and impartiality consistent to the provisions enshrined in the Constitution and other laws of the country.  The president congratulated the new members on their new assignment and wished them success in fulfilling their duties.

Kabul (BNA) The new UN Special Envoy for Afghanistan Yan Kobish in his meeting with President Karzai has said that the issue of peace and talks with the opposition includes in his mission and the UN supp0orts the Afghan peace process led by the Afghans.  He praised existing progress in Afghanistan and told president Karzai threat under your leadership in the past ten years marked progress has been achieved in Afghanistan in different areas.  Welcoming the new UN Special Envoy President Karzai said that your mission in Afghanistan starts at an important time that the process of transition of security responsibility is in the process, talks with the opposition and signing of the strategic cooperation treaties with some big world countries is goining on.  President Karzai assured the new UN Special Envoy that the Afghan government will cooperate with him.

Asadabad (BNA) cash money distributed for martyred families and wounded people by ISAF Bombardment in Nooristan province today.  Tamim Nooristani governor of Nooristan said to BNA, this cash money were distributed for 25 martyred families and wounded people by ISAF bombardment which were taken place some days back in the Kamdish district of Nooristan province.  For each martyred family were distributed sum 100,000 and for wounded families sums 50,000 Afghani.

Daikondi (BNA) a bridge was came under utilization in the Shahristan district of Daikondi province today.  Asadullah Sadati, deputy governor of Daikondi said to BNA, this bridge linked Awari area to center of Daikondi province has been constructed with the financial assistance of the Rural Rehabilitation and Development office and cooperation of people.

Taliban Senior Commander Killed in Kunar

Asadabad (BNA)  Shireen Aqa one in charge spokesman of 201 army crops said to BNA, Taliban attacked on patrol of national army which was passing from Ghaziabad district to center of Kunar province, and faced with resistance of national army forces, in counter attack , a commander of them was killed and three others were wounded.  In this event, three national army soldiers were wounded  and they were shifted to hospital of  ISAF forces in the Nari district of Kunar province, said the source.

Kabul (BNA) Transfer of the first set of Russian made advanced helicopters to Afghanistan has been started.  Transfer of the first MA 17 helicopters, the number of which reaches to nine has been started.  Professional Russian experts are in Afghanistan to submit the helicopters to Afghan officials.  The second set of the copters will be submitted to Afghanistan during the coming near year.  The helicopters worth $375 million which is paid by the USA.  Besides these 20 helicopters which proposed by the USA, the country is not talking with Russia to buy other 18 MA 17 helicopters for Afghanistan.

Kabul (BNA) in an academic conference which was held at information technology center of Afghanistan Sciences Academy , registration of Mohammad Seddiq Afghan’s biography in the world encyclopedia was considered as a big achievement.  In the conference, experts of the academy briefed the participants related to personality background of Seddiq Afghan and his written articles and services.  Following, Seddiq Afghan attributed his philosophy’s honor to Afghan people and said, “36 year ago, US recognized my formula and now the world knows me as a live philosophy,” based on reports, Seddiq Afghan’s name has been recorded amongst 55000 philosophies of the world and the name of our knowledgeable philosophy in (A) paragraph of 21st century philosophies and the world Wikipedia has recorded the name of Seddiq Afghan, as the first mathematician of the world.

Kabul (BNA) The air of Kabul is full of smoke and it is environment is not worth living, as it is harmful for the children, elders and the sick and it is not free of danger for the resident’s health.  These were stated by President Karzai in his 15-day radio address.  He added that Kabul city in terms of its population is the biggest city in Afghanistan and we are obligated to observe its sanitation and protect its environment.  He added that the government in order to prevent pollution of the city has declared Thursday as holiday to decrease the movement of the vehicles for a day, however, there is need for cooperation of the residents in this respect and without such cooperation we cannot achieve anything.  He stressed that the smoke that is created of low quality fuel causes pollution of environment and added that usage of generators by some of the domestic and foreign agencies, using of illegal fuels like plastics, by bakeries and baths in addition to ovens and low quality gas are factors that are polluting the air in the city and encounter the life of the people with danger and with these no one can remain unharmed.  He also asked the traders of the country so that while importing fuel and gas they should focus attention of their quality and they should not harm the people’s health for their personal benefits.

Kabul (BNA) Deputy Information and Culture Minister for publication, Deen Mohmmad Mubarez Rashedi in a news conference warned on Wednesday that he would never to tolerate wrong behavior against journalists calling his office the only authorized source to assess any complaints  on reporters.  The remarks come after Afghanistan’s Free Media Watch had announced in its weekly report anti-journalists violence had been increased by 30 percent this year.  According to foundation, insecurities, interventions in media works, and lack access to the information are from the challenges faced by the media.  “We respect the report released by Afghanistan Free Media Watch, but we can’t confirm it”, said Rashedi adding the entire ill-treat had been faced by the journalist had not exceed over four cases this year, and the issue was seriously observed with good aftermaths.    According to him, free of media had been the best achievement of the Afghan government over the last ten years for the people of Afghanistan and he would never tolerate to see these achievements harmed.  “I am ready to use any means possible to help freely activate the journalists in the future”.  He said besides the mess media regulation, in order to provide a proper ground for the reporters, a draft for accessing the information and work regulation of the private media that had been printed two months ago by the ministry of information and culture had been availed helping the journalist work surly, but he warned that he would never tolerate improper action against the journalists from any authority.

Kabul (BNA) Dr. Sayed Makhdom Raheen, Minister of Information and Culture in his meeting with the in charges of National Radio TV and the BNA said that the media center of government is a parallel structure with the Ministry of Information and Culture and it is an additional body.  He added that though millions of US dollars we expended on this center but has no achievements compared to ad directorate like BNA, international press center and the National Radio-TV.  He stressed that the National Radio-TV and the international press center with meager salary and functional day and night and they have their achievements and that while the media center staffs get higher salaries they have no achievements.  He stressed that the president of the country is always stressing on elimination of parallel structures with the government, while existence of the media center is similar to the ministry of information and culture and in reality it is a small ministry that has to be dissolved or merged with the ministry of information and culture.
